The Niagara Region in Ontario has declared a state of emergency as it prepares to welcome up to a million visitors for the upcoming April solar eclipse 2024.

Tourists who want to see the show at one of North America’s spectacular natural wonders are booking hotels and vacation rentals in Niagara at a rate that may not be sustainable on April 8. The reason is a total solar eclipse.

The complete solar or sun eclipse on April 8 will be the province’s first since 1979, and National Geographic has named Niagara Falls as one of the best spots to watch it.

According to an official statement issued yesterday, Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley declared a state of emergency “out of an abundance of caution.”

Eclipse lovers are paying $1000.00 or more per night at some hotels during the event. Many fans are getting ready to drive thousands of miles (distances) across Canada to witness the moon’s shadow covering the sun for three to four minutes beginning at 3:20 p.m.ET. This is Canada’s first total solar eclipse since 1979, with the next total solar eclipse is expected in 2044.

With massive crowds expected to flock to the areas in and around the famous waterfalls in Canada’s Niagara Region for a rare total solar eclipse on April 8, local authorities have proactively declared a state of emergency as part of their preparations for the “once-in-a-lifetime event, and we will be ready to shine.

” I’d like to thank all of our local governments, first responders, and community organizations for their hard work in ensuring our community can provide a safe and unforgettable experience for both visitors and residents.”

The Niagara Regional Chair said in a statement.

The eclipse will reach the Pacific coast of Mexico, in the morning. Cut diagonally across the United States from Texas to Maine, and exit East Canada by late afternoon, with a partial eclipse visible across much of the rest of the continent.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun, causing the Sun to be hidden from view for someone on Earth.

A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon appears larger than the Sun, Completely blocks all direct sunlight, and turns the day into darkness. The totality is experienced only along a narrow and thin path on the surface of the Earth, while partial solar eclipses can also be seen in the surrounding area that can stretch for thousands of kilometers.
