Russia intentionally played ‘jam signal’ game on Shapps’ plane? An RAF aircraft used by defense minister Grant Shapps was accused of being jammed by Russia in what is being described as a “wildly irresponsible” attack on the satellite signal.
When the alleged incident occurred, the minister was returning to the UK from Poland, when he was allegedly assaulted.
While the plane was flying close to Russia’s Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad, a Government source told Reuters that the GPS signal on his aircraft was interfered with for about 30 minutes during a flight.
To determine the location of the aircraft, the aircraft was compelled to use alternative methods of locating itself since mobile phone connections to the internet had been cut off.
Despite this, it appears that the jamming did not adversely affect the safety of the aircraft or the pilot’s ability to carry out his navigational duties promptly. The jamming was intermittent and did not occur during the most critical stages of the flight, such as takeoff and landing. In addition, the jamming was not severe enough to overwhelm the pilot’s other navigational aids, such as GPS.
Even though the Royal Air Force is adequately prepared to manage the situation, it nevertheless creates an unwarranted risk to civilian aircraft and may threaten people’s lives. There is no explanation for this, and Russia’s actions are incredibly reckless.”
Russia has already targeted RAF jets with GPS jamming, notably those flying from British military sites in Cyprus.
In 2021, Typhoon and F-35 fighter airplanes, A400M transport aircraft, and Voyager personnel planes were assaulted as they flew from the Mediterranean island’s RAF Akrotiri.
According to the Daily Mail, he also advocated for a recruitment overhaul, which included the removal of certain medical conditions and the lifting of a ban on soldiers growing beards.
Mr. Shapps stated that he coined the phrase “moving from post-war to pre-war.” We need to be far better prepared.

“Defense is the best method to defend ourselves from a military confrontation – you have to demonstrate your opponents – hence I am clearly in favor (of a 3% target). We live in a more hazardous world, with Vladimir Putin on the front lines making progress.”
