Is Derrick Rose Retiring after 15 Seasons in the NBA?

The digital world can be harsh, and this was evident during the recent NBA match between the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards.

Adam Amin, the Bulls’ play-by-play announcer, and Stacey King, the color commentator, were duped by a counterfeit news story claiming that Derrick Rose, a former Bulls star and current Memphis Grizzlies player, was retiring after 15 seasons in the NBA.

King mentioned the “news” during the broadcast, which turned out to be a hoax from a fake account posing as ESPN NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.

While Derrick Rose might not be as prominent in the public eye as he once was, he continues to actively contribute to the NBA. This fact seemed to have been overlooked by the Chicago Bulls broadcasters when they fell for the false news that the former league MVP was hanging up his boots.

While commentating on the Bulls vs. Wizards game, Amin and King picked up on the bogus news and discussed it live. It’s hard to estimate how many viewers were misled by this misinformation, only to find out later that it wasn’t true. It must have been quite an emotional rollercoaster for those who initially believed it.

King cited the “report” during the broadcast, which was actually from a fake account impersonating ESPN NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.

“It’s all over the internet. Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Derrick Rose is retiring after 15 seasons,” King stated.

While it’s true that the 35-year-old Rose is nearer to the end of his career than the start, there’s no truth to the rumor that he’s retiring from the NBA mid-season.

While this could potentially become a news headline down the line, as it stands, Rose continues to be a key player for the Grizzlies and retirement isn’t on his agenda.
